Jennifer Simmons

Certified Personal Trainer, USA Level 1 strength coach certified, LPTA, Pound Instructor, Owner

First of all, I have the BEST job ever. I love being able to help someone believe in themselves and see that they are stronger in so many ways than they give themselves credit for. I love connecting with them and being there for them as they have the courage to pursue change. I love watching doubt turn into hope, fear turn into “attack”, and I love to see their self-confidence change as they realize that someone believes in them and won’t ever stop. Pretty soon, they start to believe too. Training for me IS personal, because that’s where the root of the problem is. It’s the best thing in the world to see someone achieve their goals and realize that they, yes THEY DID IT!
A little about me…
Ever since I was a young child sitting in the back of my Mom’s aerobics class (yes leotards and scrunch sock era!) I knew I wanted to be in the world of health and fitness. Both my parents had health professions so “health talk” was very common around our house. It became even more common and important after my father had a heart attack and we as a family watched as he made some dramatic changes to nutrition and activity. At age 18, I certified as a group fitness instructor through ACE. I started to teach at the YMCA in Idaho Falls (my first classes were NOT pretty lol), then moved over to the Apple Athletic Club. My love for health and fitness only intensified as I grew older, but in a different way. I went to college and got my associate’s degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant and grew passionate about the importance of quality movement in our lives! I could see first-hand how health and fitness could affect you long term, and witnessing the quality of life through my profession as a PTA opened my eyes to how imperative it is to live a healthy lifestyle. And to just MOVE! In Pocatello, I have been lucky enough to teach at ISU, the Rec Center, and Gold’s Gym. I learned and grew as a professional at each of those places, and am thankful for the time spent there. In 2015 I realized that I needed to follow my passion and just bite the bullet to take the certification for Personal Training and got NASM certified. I decided to set out on my own and joined up with B.A. Athletic Training to teach Bootcamp. From there, I pursued my dream of opening my own gym and along the road have met the incredible individuals you see here.
I don’t know why I have been so blessed to have been surrounded by genuinely good people, but I am definitely not complaining! They are passionate about health and fitness and they want to help spread that passion! They each exemplify in their own way, the Jriven spirit! Please take a minute to read about each of them and see what makes Jriven different!!

Health and fitness is a huge part of who I am!  Just over 2 years ago I was in a less than happy place in my life and found Jen and Jriven!  Working out, becoming healthy, and changing my lifestyle quickly became the new me!  It took a bit of convincing from Jen, but a year after I started I became a certified personal trainer!  There are so many things I love about training!  I love getting to know people on a deeper level!  I love seeing people walk through the gym door and work so hard!  I love seeing people getting stronger!  I love seeing the light and excitement in people’s eyes when they accomplish something they never thought they could have!  What I absolutely love the most is when people realize how strong they are mentally, emotionally, and physically!!!  Especially when they can see that their hard work and consistency is paying off!!!  I love when people can see themselves how I’ve seen them all along!  There is nothing better then getting texts from clients expressing their excitement about a mental battle they were able to overcome, or their willpower to not eat that donut at work, or how they were able to go up in weight or how they are able to see themselves differently, stronger, from the inside out!😉  For me, I love how working out and eating nutritious food makes me feel!  I love taking care of ME so I can be around and be present for my family until I’m old and gray!  Health and fitness is about being the best version of myself and loving every step of this lifelong journey!

Misty Roberts

Registered Dietitian

Hello! I’m Misty Roberts. I am a Registered Dietitian licensed in the state of Idaho. I’ve been practicing for 5 years in diabetes and weight management counseling, critical care nutrition, heart health education, and long term care. I love to learn and I love to teach!!
The past two years I have discovered a pure love for health/fitness and sports nutrition. This area of nutrition is constantly growing and changing! Being in the middle of it is challenging and rewarding. I have seen people focus on health and fitness and it has changed their lives, given them purpose, and brought them to a whole new level of self-worth… but the greatest part is that I’ve seen this in myself!
I’m looking forward to many more years of building my nutrition knowledge and helping others find and implement a practical nutrition plan just for their needs and goals.

Shaleah Scoresby

Certified Personal Trainer

My name is Shaleah (or Shay) Scoresby. Health and fitness has always been a driving force in my life. I remember as a little girl watching my brothers play little league football and being SO jealous! I would pester my mom until she let me “race” against the football sprints about a 100 yards away so I wouldn’t be too much of a distraction. Once in high school, I played soccer and volleyball and ran track. Sprinting and long jumping were always my favorites. My plans were to further my career in track with scholarships in college but were halted due to injury. Once recovered from bilateral ankle surgery I have continued to pursue fitness in the gym.  Now as a mother or 2 I have continued to pursue my love of Fitness! I love being in the gym, running or biking outside. This love lead me to certifying as a personal trainer with the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA).  I love fitness and enjoy celebrating what our bodies can do! I have always enjoyed goal setting and love to help others reach their goal.

Sara Morris

Certified Personal Trainer

Hi! I’m Sara! A little about me- I grew up in Arimo, received my Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Boise State, and currently work as a legal secretary. I’m a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and CPR/AED certified with the American Heart Association. I love to read, travel, and try new things. That is one of my favorite things about being fit and healthy- it allows me to try new activities without being worried if I’ll be able to do them. I love a good challenge and being healthy is an excellent challenge to engage in. I want to help others be healthy as well and enjoy life to the fullest.

Carol Gilbert

Pound Instructor, Certified Personal Trainer

Fitness in some form has been a part of my life since I was a little girl.  From dance classes to collegiate cheerleading to working out in the gym and now teaching a group fitness class.  My love for fitness continues to grow.  I decided in 2016 to get my personal trainer certification so I could gain a deeper knowledge of the fundamentals of fitness.  From there,  I went on to get certified in Pound and Refit.  I love teaching classes and sharing my enthusiasm with others.  I love being a part of other people’s fitness journey’s and watching them accomplish their goals. I have struggled in my journey with a few injuries and balancing my goals with my desire to help my family and actively live my life to the fullest. As I have grown older, I have had to adjust some exercises that I love and really work on my form. But I enjoy the journey every single day and I’m excited to use my real life experience to enhance my ability to teach others. Here’s to rocking on!

Vashti Hieb

Pound Instructor

I began my fitness journey in 2016 when I first walked into Jriven Fitness to join my first bootcamp session. I was ready to take control of my life and my health and begin to work on me.  I was instantly in love with the environment and the amazing people that workout here, having a place where everyone is so supportive and there is no “pressure”, I knew I would call this gym my other “home”!  I attended my first ever pound class while working out at Jriven, and fell in LOVE!  Coming from a 16 year background of dance it was something that was right up my alley.  I became a Pound Pro Instructor in 2017 and love every minute of it.  Coming into Jriven and turning on the lights to set up for my class is something I never could have imagined.  I love Pound because its so easy to lose yourself in the music, and its designed for everyone. There are so many modifications to it that anyone at any fitness level can come and rock out. My goal as a Pound Pro Instructor is to help you find your inner rock star and always provide a comfortable and high energy class environment.

Natalie Ory

Hi, I’m Natalie! I am a former elite power tumbler and USA National Team Member. In 2014, I moved to Idaho from Texas to further my career. During my career, I was able to compete all over the world and win many national and international titles, including the 2016 USA Senior National Championship. I also spent many years coaching trampoline and tumbling between my hours of training and homeschooling. Although I am now retired from the sport, my love of fitness has become even more important and I enjoy teaching and helping others towards their goals. My training as an elite athlete has given me much experience in regards to exercise and fitness. Additionally, as a physical therapy technician, I have been trained to teach proper exercise form and be attentive to proper techniques when it comes to body mobility. Aside from work, I enjoy hiking, camping, traveling, hanging out with friends and family, and playing the piano and ukulele.
